Treasurer Loftis Kicks off the "25 Names of Christmas"

Columbia, SC - Treasurer Curtis Loftis kicked off the "25 Names of Christmas" on WLTX this morning.

Treasurer Loftis and the State Treasurer's Office has checked Santa's list, and put together 25 Christmas themed names who have unclaimed property waiting for them.

"It's the best kind of list you could be on, one that ends with money," said Treasurer Loftis. "These 25 names all have unclaimed property waiting for them, but don't forget that anyone can check to see if there is any under their own name! It's free and easy to do, and it could end in a huge holiday surprise."

Millions of dollars are transferred to the Unclaimed Property Program annually by companies that cannot locate the owners. Examples of the types of property covered by the program include dormant bank accounts, stock certificates, un-cashed checks (including paychecks), insurance proceeds and utility deposits. 

People should check to see if their name is on this list, and if they live (or have ever lived) in the city listed, they could have money waiting for them!
