Chief of Staff
Clarissa Adams, CPM, serves as Chief of Staff of the State Treasurer’s Office and is responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight of Investment and Banking, Treasury Management, Debt, Programs, Information Technology, Legal, Communication, and Administration on behalf of State Treasurer Curtis Loftis.
Clarissa began her career in state government by joining the staff of State Treasurer Grady Patterson as an Internal Auditor and held various other positions there, including Assistant State Treasurer, managing the Administrative Division. Clarissa also served as Assistant Comptroller General at the Comptroller General’s Office, managing the Administration Division. Having served on the Transition Team of Treasurer-Elect Curtis M. Loftis, Jr., she re-joined the State Treasurer’s Office as Deputy State Treasurer in 2011 before becoming Chief of Staff under State Treasurer Loftis.
Clarissa holds a B.S. in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration. She is a Certified Public Manager and received her Certificate in Public Treasury Management (Investment and Pensions) from Pepperdine School of Business and Management. She is a past President of the SC State Internal Auditors Association and currently serves on the Executive Management Public Sector Board of the National Institute of Public Finance.
