Clarissa Adams

Chief of Staff

Clarissa Adams, CPM, serves as Chief of Staff of the State Treasurer’s Office and is responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight of the Banking and Investment Management, Treasury Management, Debt Management, Programs, Information Technology, Legal, Communications and Administration Divisions on behalf of State Treasurer Curtis Loftis.   

Clarissa began her career in state government by joining the staff of State Treasurer Grady Patterson as an Internal Auditor. During that time, she held various other positions, including Assistant State Treasurer, managing the Administration Division. Clarissa also served as Assistant Comptroller General at the S.C. Comptroller General’s Office, managing the Administration Division. Having served on the Transition Team of Treasurer-Elect Curtis M. Loftis, Jr., she re-joined the State Treasurer’s Office as Deputy State Treasurer in 2011 before becoming Chief of Staff under Treasurer Loftis.

Clarissa holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting and an MBA. She is a Certified Public Manager and received her Certificate in Public Treasury Management (Investment and Pensions) from Pepperdine School of Business and Management. She is a past President of the S.C. State Internal Auditors Association and currently serves on the Executive Management Public Sector Board of the National Institute of Public Finance.
