Columbia, SC - State Treasurer Curtis Loftis and his team of elves at the State Treasurer’s Office have been checking their unclaimed property list to see if they can find some extra cash for your stocking this year.

Just like the 25 Days of Christmas, South Carolinians with these 25 holiday-themed names all have presents waiting for them in the form of unclaimed property.

“If your name is on the list, it could be the perfect surprise this holiday season!” said Treasurer Loftis. “This is the kind of list you definitely want to be on since it ends with an unexpected holiday gift. It only takes a few minutes to check our website to see if you have unclaimed property.”

Millions of dollars are transferred to the Unclaimed Property Program annually by companies that cannot locate the owners. Examples of the types of property covered by the program include dormant bank accounts, stock certificates, uncashed checks (including paychecks), insurance proceeds and utility deposits.

Treasurer Loftis encourages everyone to check the Treasurer’s Office website to see if their name is on this list, and if they live (or have ever lived) at the address listed, they could have money waiting for them!
