Doby's Mill Students Visit Treasurer Loftis

On Monday, March 24, 2014 third graders from Doby’s Mill Elementary School visited with State Treasurer Curtis Loftis in his office on their trip to the South Carolina State Capitol. Loftis met with students in the lobby and then engaged in a conversation about the duties of the State Treasurer.

Treasurer Loftis shared briefly his business background and discussed with students the ways they could begin saving their money. Treasurer Loftis was extremely impressed with the behavior and intellectual curiosity of the students.

“The students from Doby’s Mill already had an understanding of the importance of financial literacy and the need to begin saving their money, even at their young age,” said Treasurer Loftis. “It is amazing to see students so prepared for the future. I know the future of our state is in good hands, and their families and teachers deserve our thanks for raising such mature young people.”
