The countdown to Christmas may be over, but Treasurer Curtis Loftis wants you to know that you can still have unclaimed property waiting for you

Treasurer Loftis and WLTX counted down the 25 Names of Christmas throughout the month of December. Treasurer Loftis and the State Treasurer's Office checked Santa's list and put together 25 Christmas-themed names of people who have unclaimed property waiting for them.

The final names in the countdown to Christmas were toy, Clause, and Santa.

"It's the best kind of list you could be on, one that ends with money," said Treasurer Loftis. "These 25 names all have unclaimed property waiting for them, but don't forget that anyone can check to see if there is any under their own name! It's free and easy to do."

Millions of dollars are transferred to the Unclaimed Property Program annually by companies that cannot locate the owners. Examples of the types of property covered by the program include dormant bank accounts, stock certificates, un-cashed checks (including paychecks), insurance proceeds and utility deposits. 

People should check to see if their name is on this list, and if they live (or have ever lived) in the city listed, they could have money waiting for them!
