Treasurer Loftis to highlight Youth Financial Literacy Summer Camp

(Columbia, SC) – State Treasurer Curtis Loftis will be the keynote speaker of a program in Pickens County devoted to teaching elementary school aged kids vital economic lessons they will use throughout life. Treasurer Loftis will speak to a group of more than 100 kids on Friday June 24 at 11:15 a.m. at West End Elementary School in Easley.

The Treasurer’s speech will wrap up the two week program designed to help at-risk youth. Treasurer Loftis will distribute free financial literacy software to the students as part of the event.

“It is always such a pleasure to get out of Columbia and meet with teachers and students to talk about how important it is to understand finances,” Treasurer Loftis said. “We must reach out to children and give them an understanding of what makes our economy work. When I was in elementary school, I never could have imagined running a business and then running a statewide office. If this can inspire a child, it’s all worth it.”
