More than $1.5M in Unclaimed Property Returned

Columbia, SC - State Treasurer Curtis Loftis signed letters returning $1,559,016.94 in unclaimed property to citizens today.

Treasurer Loftis encourages everyone to check for unclaimed property.

"The South Carolina Treasurer's Office has more than $503 million in unclaimed funds, and some of that money could belong to you!" Treasurer Loftis said. "It's important to check your name right now. You could have money waiting for you!"

Examples of the type of property covered by the Unclaimed Property Program include bank accounts, stock certificates, checks, insurance policies and utility deposits. The Unclaimed Property Program does not include tangible property like land or vehicles.
