"It's important to check your name for unclaimed property," said Treasurer Loftis. "It's free and easy to do, so there's no excuse not to check your name. I'm very happy that the Unclaimed Property Program is able to return money to so many South Carolinians."

Examples of the type of property covered by the Unclaimed Property Program include bank accounts, stock certificates, checks, insurance policies and utility deposits. The Unclaimed Property Program does not include tangible property like land or vehicles.
