More than $400,000 in Unclaimed Property Returned
September 26, 2016
Columbia, SC -- State Treasurer Curtis Loftis signed letters returning $409,130.44 in unclaimed property to citizens.
The Treasurer encourages everyone to check for unclaimed property.
"You could have unclaimed money you don't even know about," said Treasurer Loftis. "All you have to do is search your name to find it. It's so easy to do, and it could mean finding hundreds of dollars!"
Examples of the type of property covered by the Unclaimed Property Program include bank accounts, stock certificates, checks, insurance policies and utility deposits. The Unclaimed Property Program does not include tangible property like land or vehicles.
