Treasurer Loftis Addresses State Payroll Deadline for Budget

(Columbia, SC) – State Treasurer Curtis Loftis issued the following statement regarding the payroll deadline surrounding the July 1 pay period.

“The State Treasurer’s Office can promptly process payroll once we receive the warrant to do so from the Comptroller General’s office. The absolute latest time for us to receive that information in order to process the July 1, 2012 payroll would be 4:00pm on Thursday, June 28.

The General Assembly must first authorize the expense of the funds through either the passage of the state budget or a continuing resolution signed by the Governor . Absent one of those enabling documents, the Comptroller General cannot process and we, in turn, cannot fund payroll.”
