Columbia - South Carolina Treasurer Curtis Loftis signed letters returning $834,526.13 in unclaimed property to citizens Thursday.

"Everyone should be checking to see if there is unclaimed property in their name," Treasurer Loftis says. "South Carolinians need to discover what is theirs and reclaim their property."

Examples of the type of property covered by the Program include bank accounts, stock certificates, checks, insurance policies and utility deposits. The Unclaimed Property Program does not include tangible property like land or vehicles.
